Product Ads Launches FTP and Notification Settings Webinar

In my last blog post I spoke about the release of FTP and Notifications Preferences for Product Ads.  Following this I also hosted a webinar about these features.  For those of you who missed it, you can view a recorded version here .

Thank you to everyone who attended and thank you for your questions.  Some of the most common questions sellers asked are below along with my answers.

Q. What format should we use for the file we FTP over?

A. Whether uploading your feed file manually in Seller Central or using FTP, continue to submit your feeds in a txt format.  We do not accept feeds in any other format.

Q. How will I know if my product file has been processed via FTP?

A. There are a few ways to verify if your uploaded feed has been processed.  You can log back into Amazon’s FTP site using your username and password information.  If the location has no file, this means your file has been picked up and has begun processing.   Alternatively, you can log into Seller Central then go to Products and select Upload Product Ads.  On this page View your File Processing Report to verify a feed has been processed for that day.  The most convenient way would be to opt-in to receive the Feed processing summary.

Q. What is the difference between critical and informational notifications?

A. You are required to provide at least one email address for us to deliver critical notifications.  These notifications will tell you when activities occur that result in your advertisements going offline.  For example, credit card payment failures or content violations.  These notifications are designed to enable you to take immediate action to minimize advertising downtime.

We recommend you provide at least one email address for us to delivery informational notifications, however it is not required.  These notifications provide feedback on non-critical account activity.  For example, feed processing, successful credit card payments and bids and budget activity.

Q. Is there a maximum number of email addresses I can add for notifications?

A. There is no limit to the number of email addresses you can add for each notification.

If you are new to Amazon and are unsure of what program to enroll in, why not attend our next webinar Product Ads by Amazon – A new way to drive traffic to your website.  The webinar will take place on March 25th, from 10am PST. To reserve your seat click here.
